Sarah Sjostrom – Most Individual World Medals in History

In Fukuoka, Japan, Sarah Sjostrom of Sweden achieved a remarkable feat by breaking Michael Phelps‘ world record for the most individual world medals. Her victory in the 50 m freestyle at the swimming world championships – and 21st medal – secured her a place in history. Notably, earlier in the same week, Katie Ledecky also etched her name in the record books by surpassing another of Phelps’ records – this time, for the total number of individual gold medals at the world championships. Ledecky has now managed to earn 16.
