Team USA knocked out of Women’s Soccer World Cup in the round of 16

The game against Sweden was decided on penalties after neither of the teams managed to score a goal. Megan Rapinoe’s missed penalty decided the outcome of the game which finished with 5 – 4 for Sweden. This is the earliest World Cup exit in the history of Team USA and at the same time, a start of a new era – team USA has never finished worse than 3rd place.
